Growing mushrooms is a great project for all ages and tends to spark different interests from various age groups! Older students may be totally hands-on and eventually explore using different substrates and techniques, younger students will need adult supervision to help with some of the inoculation process because it requires injecting the liquid culture into the growing medium, and you’ll also be using scissors briefly. Even the youngest students (like my two-year-old!) will be able to participate in simpler steps like misting the bag and helping harvest.
