Make a Still Air Box

If you’ve struggled with contamination but aren’t ready to invest in lab-grade equipment, a still air box can be a great solution for making a little clean box for working with your cultures. Take a clear plastic bin, flip it upside down, heat up the metal rim of a coffee can and use it to melt two armholes into the side of the bin. Wipe down the inside of the bin with rubbing alcohol as well as the surface it’s sitting on and do your inoculation work inside of the bin to get a bit more defense against wiley mold spores and bacteria floating around the room.
